 Mindfulness is the ability to be completely present in the moment by being aware of your feelings and thoughts. This has various physical and mental health benefits. 

Many people are confused about mindfulness and meditation; some believe they are the same thing. Before diving into the content, I would like to clear that up.

So, to summarise in a single statement. Mindfulness and meditation are not the same thing, but they are linked.Mindfulness is a quality or state, whereas meditation is a method for living a mindful life.  

I'm guessing that many of you are curious about mindfulness and wondering how to practise it. However, before beginning the practise of mindfulness.

First and foremost, let us discuss the benefits and impact that mindfulness will have on your life, and then we will look at how to practise it.



Rewiring our Brains


Mindfulness can deform of our brains as well as our mindsets and perspectives.

We all believe that every human being has the same brain. Even though, we all have the same brain shape and size. However, each individual's brain is distinct. 

Even though my brain is the same shape and size as yours, the wiring in my brain is completely different from yours because it has been shaped throughout my life. And the wiring of our brain is entirely dependent on how we think, the circumstances we encounter, the people we interact with, the things we listen to, the problem we face, and other various factors. The restructuring of our brains make us to advance in our lives.  

The rewiring of our brain is a passive process in which we promote habits by unconsciously repeating them. This is how addictions form. For example, if you started playing video games and found them enjoyable, you are likely to keep doing so. This completely rewires your brain and forces you to follow through. Addictions of this nature have a negative impact on our growth and success. These neuron wirings do not happen overnight; they are a continuous process that occurs throughout your life.


Impact on Brain


Mindfulness has an impact on the brain's functionality, structure, and thought patterns. The more you practise mindfulness, the stronger your brain's neural connections become, which could enable you live a better life

Researchers have discovered that mindfulness practise affects brain areas associated with interpretation, self recognition, endurance, emotional control, self examination, intricate pondering, and sense of identity. This will result in positive changes in your lives.  

Furthermore, it has a positive effect on the brain areas associated with sentimental control, compassion, kindness, taking a stand, and anxiety reactions. Mindfulness practise will greatly assist you in remembering many things and learning and grasping things more quickly. Your life will be filled with happiness and positivity. 

You will eventually develop the ability to see the good in every situation and learn to approach everything in a positive manner, transforming you into a more interesting and attractive person in your school, college, or workplace. While others are scratching their heads and worrying, you will handle every problem calmly.

Ways to Practice Mindfulness 


Setting time and space



To practise mindfulness, you don't need any special equipment; all you need is some time and space in your life. To begin, set aside 20 minutes per day and stick to it. Change your surroundings only when necessary. Set aside an area that is well-ventilated and surrounded by trees. Don't be concerned if you can't find a location surrounded by trees. The only reason for recommending a location surrounded by trees is that it will help you feel and concentrate better. If you don't have any trees nearby, it's not a problem. However, ensure that the area is well ventilated and free of noise.

Once you have chosen a location and set aside a specific time to practise mindfulness. Now it is time to move on to the next critical steps.



Spend time with yourself



Every day, sit in the same spot at the same time. And pay attention to yourself. Simply sit for that amount of time, without looking at your watch, and set a timer. Sit quietly and without thinking about anything; simply pay attention to yourself, noticing your thoughts, feelings, and break. 


I prefer to practise mindfulness in the morning or evening and try to avoid it during the day. It is entirely up to you whether to do it in the morning or in the evening. If you don't have time in the morning or evening, you can practise at night.


Focusing on one thing




Concentrating on a single task at a time may be difficult for you. But try to put it into practise. For example, if you're driving, concentrate solely on that task; if you're cooking, devote your complete attention and focus to that task.

You cannot do it for all tasks at first; simply set aside a task for yourself. For example, if I'm cooking today, I should devote my entire attention to that task. Make an agreement with yourself in this manner.

Then, as time passes, gradually increase the number of tasks.

You may be wondering about these ways because it appears to be very simple, and some of you may be sceptical that it can produce such great results. It is not difficult to accomplish. It's not going to move a mountain. It's as simple as that to practise mindfulness. 


Practicing mindfulness for a short period of time will not yield as many results as practising it consistently will. In this article, I only covered the basics of mindfulness and mentioned some ways to practise it. However, there are numerous ways to put it into practise.
